Creating an organization

An organization is a group of people that work together in Jahuty.

After you sign up and confirm your email, we require you to either create or join an organization. It's required, because almost everything in Jahuty belongs to an organization. And, the things you can do in Jahuty are determined by the organizations you belong to and the role you're assigned.

If you're the first person from your organization to use Jahuty, you'll create a new organization and invite others to join you. If not, you'll ask your organization's administrator for an invitation to join.

Creating an organization

To begin creating a new organization immediately after confirming your email:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. We'll redirect you to a welcome screen.
  3. Click the "Create one" button.

To being creating a new organization at any time:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click your curent organization's name in the top-right navigation.
  3. Click "Settings" in the dropdown menu.
  4. Click "New organization" from the left navigation.

From either of those entrances, continue to:

  1. Enter your organization's name.
  2. Optionally, enter the name and email of colleagues you'd like to invite.
  3. Click the "Create organization" button.

That's it! You've created your organization, and we'll redirect you to creating a snippet.

Roles

As a member of an organization, you're assigned a role that determines what you can do on behalf of the organization. When you create an organization, you are automatically assigned the owner role, which is the top-most role. You can do just about anything on behalf of the organization.

Sending invitations

You can belong to an organization of one (you), but you can also invite others to join you.

To invite others to join your organization:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click your curent organization's name in the top-right navigation.
  3. Click "Settings" in the dropdown menu.
  4. Click "Invitations" in the left navigation.
  5. Click the "New invitation" button.
  6. Enter the recipient's name and email.
  7. Click the "Send secure invitation" button.

That's it! Be certain to enter the correct email address. You don't want to invite strangers or bad actors to join your organization by accident. Also, be sure your recipient accepts your invitation within a few days. Otherwise, it'll expire, and you'll need to resend it.

Managing members

Members of an organization share snippets and a billing account.

It's important to keep your organization's members up-to-date as your organization changes in the real world. For example, if an employee leaves your organization and you don't remove them in Jahuty, they'll have access to your snippets, if they have access to their password.
